Biometric Security
a.k.a. Biometrics
Unlocking an account or device with part of your body, such as a fingerprint or your face.
In plain English
Unlocking an account or device with part of your body, such as a fingerprint or your face.
Biometric security uses something you are, a fingerprint, a face scan, an iris, as your key. Your phone's face unlock is biometrics, and many wallet apps and exchanges use it to approve logins and payments.
It is fast and hard to fake casually. But it guards the device, not the coins themselves. If your phone is lost, the fingerprint won't rescue you; your seed phrase will. And unlike a password, you can't change your face if the data ever leaks.
