Wallets and security
Keys, wallets, scams and keeping your coins yours.

- AnonymityActing with no link at all to your real identity. Most crypto is not truly anonymous, only pseudonymous.
- Asymmetric EncryptionCryptography that uses a matched pair of keys: a public one anyone can see and a private one only the owner holds.
- AuthenticationProving you are who you say you are before an account or wallet lets you in.
B
- Biometric SecurityUnlocking an account or device with part of your body, such as a fingerprint or your face.
- Blockchain ExplorerA website that lets anyone search a blockchain and look up any transaction, address or block.
- Brain WalletA wallet whose key is generated from a phrase you memorise, which is risky because people choose guessable phrases.
- Bricked FundsCrypto that still exists on the blockchain but can never be moved again, usually because of a mistake or a bug.
C
- Cold WalletA wallet whose keys are kept offline, away from the internet and the hackers on it.
- CryptographyThe science of protecting information with maths, so only the right people can read it or prove it came from them.
- Custodial WalletA wallet where a company, usually an exchange, holds the private keys and so controls the coins for you.
