A monthly estimate of US private-sector job growth from payroll firm ADP, released a couple of days before the official jobs report.
The ADP National Employment Report comes from ADP, a company that runs payroll for a huge slice of American businesses. Each month it uses that data to estimate how many private-sector jobs were added or lost.
Traders treat it as a sneak preview of the government's Employment Situation Report (the famous non-farm payrolls). The two often disagree, sometimes by a lot, so a big ADP surprise can jolt the dollar and then be forgotten by Friday.
