In plain English

Studying public blockchain data, like wallet balances and coin flows, to understand what holders and markets are doing.

On-chain analysis reads the blockchain like a crime scene. Because every on-chain transaction is public, analysts can watch coins moving onto exchanges (perhaps to be sold), off exchanges (perhaps to be held), or between big whale wallets.

Traders use it as a crypto-only kind of fundamental analysis. Investigators use it to trace stolen or laundered funds, which is why crypto is far less anonymous than people assume. The data is real; the stories people tell about it are guesses, so treat signals with care.
