Pseudonymity
a.k.a. Pseudonymous, Pseudo-anonymous
Acting under a consistent alias instead of your real name, which is how most crypto works: addresses, not names.
Pseudonymity means using a mask, not being invisible. On most blockchains you're a wallet address, a long string of characters, rather than a name. But every payment to and from that address is public and permanent.
The mask slips easily. Buy through an exchange that checked your ID, post your address online, or send coins between your own wallets, and on-chain analysis can often link the whole trail back to you. True anonymity is much harder. Even Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, is a pseudonym.
