Plaintext
a.k.a. Cleartext
Readable, unencrypted information, before it is scrambled or after it is unscrambled.
Plaintext is data in its readable form: the message before encryption scrambles it, or after the right key unscrambles it. The scrambled version is called ciphertext.
In crypto security it's a warning word. Storing your seed phrase or private key "in plaintext", in a notes app, an email draft or a file named "wallet.txt", means anyone or any malware that gets into that device can read it instantly.
Keeping your seed phrase in a plaintext note on your phone or computer. That's the first place malware looks.
