Private Key
The secret code that proves you own your crypto and lets you spend it. Whoever has it controls the coins.
A private key is a long secret number that unlocks your crypto. It is used to sign transactions, mathematically proving you are allowed to move the coins at an address. It pairs with a public key that others can see; only the private one has to stay hidden.
There is no "forgot password" button. Lose the private key and the coins are gone for good. Share it, or type it into the wrong website, and someone else can empty your wallet in seconds. "Not your keys, not your coins" is crypto's most repeated warning for a reason.
Storing your private key or seed phrase in a screenshot or cloud note, where malware can find it.
