Digital signature

Maths that proves a message came from the holder of a private key, without revealing the key.
In plain English

Maths that proves a message came from the holder of a private key, without revealing the key.

When you send crypto, your wallet uses your private key to stamp the transaction with a digital signature. Anyone can check that stamp against your public key, but nobody can forge it without the private key.

It's the reason a blockchain doesn't need a bank to confirm who's who: the signature itself is the proof.
