Tor
a.k.a. The Onion Router, Tor Browser
Free software that hides where your internet traffic comes from by bouncing it through several volunteer-run relays.
Tor (originally "The Onion Router") wraps your internet traffic in layers of encryption, like the skins of an onion, and sends it through a chain of volunteer computers. Each relay peels one layer and only knows the step before and after, so no single point sees both who you are and where you're going.
It's used by journalists, activists and privacy-minded people, and it's also the gateway to the dark web. Some crypto users run their wallets or nodes over Tor to hide their IP address. It hides your connection, not your on-chain trail.
